This group of industry experts led their expertise to the 2019 Flavors and Fragrances conference: 

  • Andre Chieffi

    R&D Manager Procter & Gamble

    Dr. Andre Chieffi works at P&G’s Newcatle Innovation Centre (UK), where he leads a group working on cleaning technologies. Before joining P&G in 2002, he studied chemistry (BsC and PhD) at Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil) and University of Waterloo (Canada) and did a postdoc at MIT (US). At P&G, Andre worked most of his career at the Newcastle Innovation Centre (UK) working on the development of new technologies for sustainable cleaning products (e.g.:  enzymes, polymers, bleach, encapsulation and active delivery systems). Recently, Andre spent two years in Brazil (2012/2013) leading P&G´s Open Innovation program for Latin America.

  • Jack Corley

    Chief Sales Officer; President - Natural Fragrance Division Custom Essence

    Jack Corley is Chief Sales Officer of Custom Essence Inc. and serves as President of Custom Essence Inc.'s Natural Fragrances Division. He is also a member of the Custom Essence, Inc. Senior Advisory Committee. Mr. Corley has 37 years’ experience in the Fragrance and Flavor Industry. Prior to joining Custom Essence in July 2014, Mr. Corley was Vice-President and Director of Sales and Marketing for Symrise, managing the PureScent  (Trilogy Fragrances) division and brand. Mr. Corley also spent 21 years with International Flavors and Fragrances.

    Custom Essence is a mid-sized Fragrance creator and manufacturer based in Somerset, NJ and is the Industry leader in the natural fragrance category.

     Mr. Corley has been retained by some of the largest Fragrance and Flavor Companies in the world, advising them on natural and organic product/market development, natural and organic ingredient sourcing and natural/organic product formulation, labeling and regulatory issues.

     His career during this time has included Senior Management positions in both Sales and Purchasing, with a background heavily oriented towards Natural Ingredients.

     He has written numerous articles related to personal care subjects over the years and is a featured speaker at Fragrance and Personal Care events and seminars as well. In addition, he was a founding member of the Natural Product Association Personal Care and Home Care Standards Committees; and remains a Joint Committee member of the NSF-305 task force.

     Mr. Corley is a member of the Board of Directors for the Center for Vocational Rehabilitation, Monmouth County, NJ.

    Additionally, Mr. Corley is as an Adjunct Professor of Business at Monmouth University, in West Long Branch, NJ for the past 14 years.

     Mr. Corley holds both a BBA and an MBA from Baruch College, is a former Associate Professor of Business at St. John’s University, New York

  • Kathleen Crossman

    Director, Regulatory Affairs WILD Flavors & Specialty Ingredients

    From chairing committees at the Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association to presenting before a host of professional organizations, Kathleen Crossman is a trusted authority on regulatory matters in the flavor industry. She has more than 25 years of relevant experience and currently leads FONA’s formidable regulatory team. She and her team work to provide customers with accurate information and solutions that help mitigate risk and keep their products and customers safe.

    Kathleen currently chairs FEMA’s Regulatory Affairs Committee and has led and participated in many initiatives, such as a supply chain task force, intellectual property webinars and served as Flavor Labeling Committee Chair. She has shared her knowledge through presentations to ABA, SFC and GMA and has taught several short courses for IFT.

    Before joining FONA in 2013, Kathleen was the Head of Global Policy & Process Management for Givaudan in Cincinnati, OH, where she worked to maximize regulatory efficiency and mitigate risk. She also developed training programs and audit plans that ensured ongoing organizational compliance.

    Prior to that, Kathleen was the company’s Head of North American Regulatory Affairs, responsible for regulatory customer service, compliance, policy development & implementation. She was involved in strategic decision-making around new regulatory issues and worked to develop data systems to support regulatory needs.

    Earlier in her career, Kathleen worked as a chemist for Cadbury Beverages where she was instrumental in establishing water quality and pesticide residue monitoring for a product line before moving into the regulatory field as an analyst. Kathleen has a B.S. in chemistry from St. Joseph University, West Hartford, CT.

  • Thomas Lauzurica

    Marketing Manager Berjè Inc.

    Tom joined Berjé 16 years ago, entering the management trainee program, whereby he rotated through every aspect of the business from QC to production and sales, finally establishing himself with a degree in design as Berjé’s Marketing Manager. Combining his love of nature and aromas, he found the perfect blending of these passions in his current role at Berjé. Tom is at the forefront of trends in the Flavor and Fragrance markets, with a focus on ingredients across multiple applications. Tom also serves on the Beauty board of the Color Association of America (CAUS) developing future color palettes for the Beauty industry. 

    Tom is an avid rock climber, an adventurous cook, enjoys travel and experiencing the diverse aspects of all he encounters. He is married proudly to a doctor of internal medicine and has a four legged furry child named Loopy.

  • Catalina Monroy

    Worldwide Director, Global Flavors & Fragrances Colgate-Palmolive Company

    Ms. Catalina Monroy is a Worldwide Director of the Colgate-Palmolive Company, providing global leadership to the team responsible for developing and recommending world-class flavors and fragrances that ensure the best tasting and smelling experience to the consumers. Her team support Colgate’s Global Research & Development organization by developing and recommending flavors and fragrances for all Oral Care, Home Care and Personal Care Colgate-Palmolive brands.  Catalina’s guidance and input to her teams have contributed to the launch of many successful products. As the flavor and fragrance group leader, Catalina has established strong partnerships with the Marketing, Consumer Insights and Product Development teams, facilitating a better understanding of the role of flavors and fragrances in Colgate-Palmolive products.

    Catalina joined Colgate in 2015 and brought with her over 25 years of experience in the flavor industry, most recently with Firmenich. Since 2011, she worked as a Senior Flavorist for North America and Latin America Oral Care at the Firmenich U.S. affiliate in Plainsboro, NJ, where she strengthened her expertise in mint flavors and sensates for Toothpaste and Mouthwash applications and was the lead Flavorist providing flavor-creation support to Colgate.

    In 2000, she joined Firmenich in Mexico City and was responsible for the development of sweet goods flavors for the Latin America region.  After two years, she moved to their headquarters in Geneva, where she led the development of flavors for confectionary applications. She later managed the European Flavorist team as Senior Flavorist.

    While in Europe, from 2010 to 2011, Catalina joined Givaudan in Switzerland were she developed flavors for the European region in the Sweet Goods area.

    After studying food engineering at La Salle University in Medellin, Colombia, Catalina gained knowledge as a Flavorist at Lucta, a Spanish Flavors and Fragrance company. From 1990 to 1999 she worked in their Colombian affiliate where she successfully completed the Flavorist training and created flavors for Sweet Goods, Beverage and Savory applications.

    Catalina brings tremendous passion and dedication to her work while effectively adapting to diverse teams and cultures, enabling her to foster strong partnerships with key stakeholders.  She enjoys mentoring junior flavorists and motivating them to walk the extra mile for success.

  • Adele Naidu

    Vice President Key Global Account, Flavor Division Firmenich

    Adele is based in Princeton, NJ at the Firmenich Flavor Division Headquarters as Vice President for a key global client. Adele has been living in Princeton NJ for almost 12 years and was transferred to the US from Geneva, Switzerland in 2006. Adele has been globally responsible for 3 key strategic Flavor clients during her tenure at Firmenich

    Adele is also currently a Board Member of the WFFC Inc, (Women in Flavor and Fragrance Commerce Inc.) which was founded in 1982 by women employed in various capacities in the U.S. flavor and fragrance industry.

    Adele’s life and early career started in South Africa as a Food Technologist and evolved into Marketing and finally into Sales.  Her career has spanned 3 continents over these last 30+ years. Adele was transferred from South Africa to the Firmenich Flavor Headquarters in Geneva in 2001 to work in the European Beverage Business Unit as a Marketing Manager. She progressed from there to other roles in Business Development and eventually into global Sales which finally led Adele to the US in 2006.

    Before joining Firmenich, Adele spent many years at locally based companies in South Africa working in R&D (Research and Development) and as a senior Marketing Manager at a local Confectionery company. Adele is a qualified Food Scientist and studied at the Durban University of Technology in South Africa. She also obtained her Marketing qualifications while in South Africa.

    Adele has experience within many commercial and technical disciplines including product development, marketing, sales and strategy. Adele is a passionate, effusive and a dedicated individual who is well known for creating strong and trusted partnerships with her key global contacts.

    She is also considered a great mentor and is constantly sought after for advice and guidance by young millennials looking to further develop and enhance their career  

  • Phil Porter

    Research Fellow Perfumer P&G

    Joined P&G in the UK in 1991 after completing my MA in Chemistry at the University of Oxford.  Spent several years in Laundry Product Development in Europe before training to become a perfumer.  I have spent the last 20 years creating fragrances for P&G products across the world.  For the last 5 years I have also led P&G's perfume raw material innovation program.
